The McGlennon family have operated businesses in Colborne, Cramahe and Alnwick-Haldimand since the 1800's. It began with James McGlennon and his Chase Brothers Canada. As sellers of all types of nursery and orchard stock across southern Ontario, they were the Canadian agent for Chase Brothers Nurseries headquartered in New York state.
In 1940 W.W.D. McGlennon returned to Colborne from Toronto and purchased an insurance agency operated by G.E.R. Wilson. The offices were located at 23 King Street East. Wally ran the business with his wife Opal until his sudden death in 1949. Their son Duncan McGlennon then left the banking industry to join the agency which later became a brokerage. Duncan purchased the former C.I.B.C. building at 32 King Street East. David McGlennon joined the business in 1984.
